Katherine Benson
Katherine is committed to defending your rights.
Before joining the firm, Katherine summered at the BC Civil Liberties Association, articled at a legal aid funded clinic, and clerked for five justices of the Supreme Court of British Columbia. She now maintains a practice focused on labour, human rights, and criminal law.
Katherine survived a brain injury in 2018. Her experience of disability drives her commitment to supporting clients in their quests to receive appropriate workplace accommodations. She also supports grassroots organizations and student movements in their efforts to advance equity initiatives, including those that support people with disabilities.
In addition, Katherine maintains a criminal defence practice with a focus on clients whose constitutional rights are impacted by their criminal charges. She is particularly interested in representing clients who were arrested while engaging in protest activities.
Katherine is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia and the Law Society of Ontario. She earned her law degree from the University of British Columbia where she received multiple awards for her public interest and human rights work. She also holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Conflict Studies and Human Rights from the University of Ottawa.
